The Waddle Dee is a recurring enemy in the Kirby franchise, it's the equivalency of a Goomba in the Super Mario franchise. This means that they are the most common, and weakest enemies in the franchise, and have appeared in almost every game in the franchise to date.

A Bundle of Yarn[]

Waddle Dees in their yarn form are strands of orange yarn to make up their basic pear shaped body as well as tan yarn to make up their legs and facial structure. These guys take the shape of a fat-squat pear with cartoon-like eyes and blush, somewhat breaking the flow of yarn, but in retrospect, it may be showing that whoever was once made of living tissue, still have marks of that time.

Hugs of Doom[]

Usually a Waddle Dee is found sleeping, relaxing, or pacing back and worth, upon visual contact with Kirby Waddle Dees will either run away, or stand there ground and tackle you. By tackle, it's more like a hug. Whenever you're hit by this "hug of doom", both you and the Waddle Dee will bump into each other, fall on the ground, and shake it off. Attacking this enemy is the most standard way to go about fighting in this game, you simply hit the 1 button to pull out your Yarn Whip and either tear them apart, or by holding down 1, turn them into a ball of yarn to throw them at other enemies.
